Design a detailed plan for an educational activity within a non-formal education setting. Your plan should cater to a specific audience and focus on a particular skill or knowledge area. Include objectives, methods, materials, and an assessment strategy.
Reflect on how your activity aligns with the principles of non-formal education, such as flexibility, learner-centredness, and practical application. This assignment will help you understand how to create compelling, engaging, and relevant educational experiences outside the traditional classroom environment.
Task 1
Identify the problem by following the following questions:
- Why is it a problem?
- Where does the problem come from (causes)?
- Who is affected by the problem?
- Who contributes (positively or negatively to the problem)?
- How do we know it’s a problem (research)?
- Where and how does the problem manifest itself?
Task 2
Formulate at least one objective for a project related to the problem identified in task 1, by following this structure:
Develop …… (the general competence) of ……. young people (number) throughout…… (number of days/ months of the project)
Task 3
Please write down the categories of direct beneficiaries (whom you will work with) targeted by the project and the reasons for their selection (e.g., we intend to work with young people in the community because they are most likely to develop civic participation competencies).
Task 4
Considering the objective/s envisioned in the previous section, describe the activities that can be carried out to reach the objective/s.
Task 5
Considering the activities mentioned in the last section, describe the results (both outputs and outcomes) for each activity. An output, for example, can be the number of learning hours in the project. An outcome of this can be the specific skill acquired by young people through those hours.
